Campo de Ourique, in the heart of Lisbon, is a neighbourhood with a life of its own. A residential area of the mid-upper class and with a great tradition in commerce, it is considered one of the city's neighbourhoods with the best quality of life. Here it is not difficult to see people greeting, families strolling and shopping. Politicians, artists and journalists choose Campo de Ourique to live and mingle.

Situated between Amoreiras, Estrela and Prazeres, until the 18th.. century Campo de Ourique was not part of Lisbon's centre. In the beginning it was ony a windy slope where the factory workers from Alcântara lived.

The streets of Campo de Ourique are full of shops, cafés, pastry shops, medical surgeries and offices. Two trams,  number 25 (Alfândega/Campo de Ourique) and the legendary 28 (Martim Moniz/Campo de Ourique), make the going easy and give a certain charm. To understand the atmosphere of the neighbourhood, walk through the older cafés: A Tentadora (Rua Ferreira Borges, 1), Ruacaná (Rua Almeida Sousa, 31 A/B) and Canas (Rua Saraiva de Carvalho 145 A/B. Irreplaceable are the visits to the Santo Condestável church, authored by Vasco Regaleira and Campo de Ourique produce market, where you will not resist the Mercado Chocolate chocolateer (Rua Coelho da Rocha). For wine lovers, there is paradise at A Garrafeira de Campo de Ourique (Rua Tomás de Anunciação, 29 A). And since the gourmet shops are in expansion in this area,  let yourself be seduced by Oil&Vinegar (Rua 4 de Infantaria, 29) and Portugal Rural (Rua Saraiva de Carvalho 115 R/C).

The Amoreiras area is a natural extension of Campo de Ourique, the neighbourhood's symbol is the Amoreiras Shopping Center, opened in 1985. From the beginning, the shopping center became well known for its daring architecture, by Tomás Taveira. It won the Valmor and the Municipal Architecture prizes in 1993. Here the best brands have their shops. A few steps away, visit the Amoreiras Garden or the Marcelino Mesquita Garden, imagined by Marquês de Pombal and the Mãe d'Água das Amoreiras water reservoir (Praça das Amoreiras, 10).
